Baby News

Jadon and I went to the doctor on Monday and were able to hear the heartbeat for the first time! It was more amazing than I'd thought it would be, although I must say it wasn't as fast as I thought it would sound. I've read that a lot of women describe it as sounding like a stampede of horses, but in my opinion it was barely faster than mine (160 beats per minute compared to my 130). It was just amazing hearing it and knowing it's not mine, it belongs to the tiny person growing inside of me!

The doctor told us that they are considering my pregnancy high risk due to Jadon's birth defects and my family history of Factor 5 Leiden. She referred us to a high risk doctor. They took a TON of blood (I had to lay down because I was really panicky and they didn't want me to pass out) and will be testing for the Factor 5. Hopefully I don't have it. The good news is they want me to get an Ultrasound (a level 2) in two weeks, at which point we will be able to determine the gender! We both think it's a boy, so we'll both either be right or wrong.

I am extremely grateful that I finally got approved for AHCCCS. It is a huge relief not having to worry about if I can afford to go to the doctor when I need to. We are also applying for WIC, which I'm told is very easy to get approved for.

I have felt the baby move a lot more frequently over the past several days and it always amazes me. I often wish that Jadon could feel it, too. I have a very active baby who likes to move around a lot at 3 in the morning and wake me up from naps, but I love feeling it do it's little somersaults!

SweetiePie

Mama traveled down from Oregon with her husband, affectionately known to us as SweetiePie, on Thursday. (Jadon knew Mama and SweetiePie from his mission in Oregon and has kept in close contact with them ever since.) SweetiePie recently had open heart surgery and was now in a hospital in Scottsdale. Friday night, SweetiePie passed away. Jadon went with Mama to the hospital after receiving the news.

Although I have only met SweetiePie on one occasion, about a year ago, I was very fond of him. He and Mama were so sweet and welcoming when we visited. They made me feel very at home. I remember when we sat down to dinner SweetiePie pulled out my chair for me, which Jadon later told me was very out of character for SweetiePie, which means he must have approved of me for Jadon! It is heartbreaking to see Jadon and Mama so sad. Thankfully, Mama's son and his family came over from Texas when they got the news. I am grateful she has many people around her who love her and are ready to help with anything she needs. I know Jadon is very concerned about her. He has a week off in December and we both agreed he needs to spend it with Mama to make sure she is okay.

Thanksgiving Week

This last week was off to a great start, I was finally feeling well and we were looking forward to being able to enjoy all of the many happenings to come throughout the week. On Tuesday, at Jadon's suggestion, we set up our Christmas Tree! Wednesday was my baby sister, Deanna's, 18th birthday so I took her to see Tangled in the morning. That night we received a shock when my sister Staci who lives in Utah showed up at the doorstep with her family just before cake. Talk about surprise! Unfortunately, Jadon was home sick and had never met Staci. He was even beginning to think she didn't exist!

Thanksgiving day they finally met! We went to my parents' house for Thanksgiving dinner (and overate like crazy!). My niece, Carli, kept asking why I was eating so much and telling me if I ate too much I would get tired and need a nap. I explained that I was eating for two, and said that the baby was sooo hungry, but she was right. I took 2 naps! Meanwhile, Jadon was so cute playing outside in the dirt with my nephews!

Let's Try This Again

About a year ago I started this blog and only posted about 4 times. So, after a long year and some technical difficulties, I decided it was time for a new look, a fresh start, and, hopefully, more follow through.

My life where it's at has gotten me thinking a lot about the events that lead me here and got me to this point. Believe it or not, it was only about a year ago that Jadon and I had our first date, decided to go steady, and got engaged (all within about a 3 week period)! We got married in July, and began making plans for our future together, at which point God stepped in and let us know that He had a different plan for us than we had for ourselves. So, here I am, 16 weeks pregnant and finally over the morning sickness (unless I just jinxed it). Jadon and I couldn't be more excited, especially since we have seen the ultrasound pictures. I am growing a very cute Jadon baby!

This is our baby at 13 weeks 5 days. The baby weighed in at 4 oz!

It is crazy to think that this will be our first Christmas together as a married couple, and our last before having a child of our own!

Okay, so those of you who know me well know that I think I am hilarious, which is why I just HAD to add the little vote boxes at the bottom of each post so you can share whether you thought what I wrote was funny! I know I'm not always funny, but when I am, I am pretty darn hilarious!
